remote assistance contract with pcMagic

   pcMagic helps clients save money by offering computer assistance remotely. By setting up a client controlled connection, you can receive assistance and even allow us to control your computer, from our offices. This removes the need to visit your premises and means you avoid the £40 minimum call-out charge.
   The setup charge for Remote Assistance is a once-off £60... this entitles you to unlimited online support at £50 hour. So, if for instance you need online support to sort out an email problem, which only takes 10 minutes over the phone and maybe using remote control of your computer, you would be charged less than £10.
   Setup charges vary with the number of computers on which you might require remote assistance.

Notes on setting up remote assistance

A: Enable Remote Assistance on your computer

1	Before you can request that someone control your computer, you need to enable Remote Assistance.
2	Start - Right click on the My Computer icon
3	Select Properties
4	Click on the Remote tab
5	Check Allow Remote Assistance invitations to be sent from this computer
6	Click on the Advanced tab
7	Check Allow this computer to be controlled remotely

Establish a Windows Instant Messenger Connection
(if you don't already have a Hotmail account, you will need
to follow Stages B and C)

B: Create a Hotmail account - CLICK HERE

C: Download Windows Instant Messanger software

D: Request pcMagic Support using Remote Assistance

1	Open Windows Instant Messanger / Sign in
2	Click on: Tools - Add a contact - Type in davidgard@hotmail.co.uk
3	NEXT - NEXT - CLOSE
4	Select contact davidgard@hotmail.co.uk and start conversation
5	Phone pcMagic on 01872 865305 to ask for assistance
6	Click on Actions tab - Ask for remote Assistance
7	(pcMagic accepts request) Confirm permissions: Click on: YES
8	(Stop the session at any time with [ESC] key or "STOP CONTROL"
9	Both you and pcMagic can control your computer at this stage
10	At the end of the session, for invoicing purposes, please confirm the amount of time Remote Assistance has been provided.

Once your pcMagic Remote Assistance package has been set up, you will only be charged for the time starting at item 5 in Section D.
